The construction handoff should include a written startup plan. A filled pool is not automatically ready for swimming, salt generation, heating, or automatic cleaning.

Keep instructions tied to the actual finish
NPT publishes startup guidance that addresses early testing, brushing, and equipment restrictions. Use the installed finish’s requirements; this page does not prescribe a chemical dose or universal startup schedule. Ask who supplies chemicals, performs visits, and responds if the fill is interrupted.
Prepare the handoff folder
Keep finish and equipment model names, warranties, care instructions, contractor contacts, and the startup log together. Record questions at the handoff: when to use the heater, cleaner, or salt system; which brush is suitable; and who checks the water before swimming.
Include startup in the schedule
If you will be away, arrange someone to perform the required tasks. A vacation or rental check-in should not be booked on the assumption that the installation completion date is the swimming date.
