Inspect samples with a decision list
Look at the selected product wet and dry and consider steps, benches, and shallow areas. Light, water depth, surroundings, and the sample size affect the appearance. Keep the exact manufacturer, product, color, and any approved sample with the contract.
Ask what sits beneath the finish
Two bids using the same finish can include different removal and preparation. Ask which cracks, fittings, or unsound areas are included and how hidden findings are priced. New material should not cover an unresolved leak investigation.
Put early care in the proposal
NPT’s startup guidance shows that a new finish needs a planned care period. Get the instructions for the selected product and name the person responsible for each task. Include those visits in the renovation budget.
